I rigged this system up today with the light hanging from a curtain hanger in the window. I have the light on a timer for 12 hours for now and the light hangs approximately 4 inches from the top of the tallest cactus which is, of course, adjustable. In my planted tank, the light would have been 12 inches above the bottom of the tank.

I took one picture showing the system on during the late morning and two at night where the light emitted from the light is more visible.

I'm looking to do the exact same thing with the same light! If you see this do you have an update on how it worked out?

The cactus are really lovely and strong, but the grow light...there are different colored led beads, each bead outputs light of different ranged wavelength, some parts of the plants receive red spectrum, some parts receive blu spectrum...it's not a good solution for plants in winter emmm...

even though you have some natural light that LED strip is using 2 or 3 watt diodes and I would recommend moving it 6 inches away from the top of your plants. Honestly indirect natural light is probably giving 90% of the light and that one light above is not doing much. move it closer 6” over plants and you should see better growth. All in all most cacti require a lot of light and usually requires two 150watt MH / HPS for that area or a 450 watt equivalent / 200watt actual LED panel.

Regular 'Daylight' LED bulbs have near the same spectral coverage as those mixed color diode lights, and plants don't look near as weird under them. I use 100W equivalent daylight bulbs anywhere from 6 to 12 inches above plants for 12-24 hours with good results
