Oh, this just reminded me of one of my all-time favorite movies!!!! I think anyone-and especially couples, who are building or remodeling should be forced to watch “Mr. Blandings Builds His Dream House”. His wife patiently explains to the builder, “Now I want yellow, the color of butter, but not the butter you get in the summer, rather, the butter you get in the spring, you know. This room will be blue, the lightest color of this little sprig in this fabric, not quite as strong as robin’s eggs......”.She goes on to describe the other colors for the rest of the house and leaves the room. The painter turns to his crew and says, “yellow, green, blue, green. Got it?”

To be practical, I once painted every room in my new house a BM color Lancaster Whitewash to go with my primitive antiques. The trim in each room influenced the color of the walls as did the reflected sunlight in each room, differing by time of day. Friends who had spent much time at my house were incredulous that the wall color was the same from room to room. That house was in Florida and the sun conditions were very different than the sunlight in my house in the north—thus the colors are very different. The only way to pick paint is to get those paint chips they give away and take the colors you like home. Then after you narrow it down to two or three buy samples of the colors, paint a board, and put it in your room for several days. You will find the color changes from hour to hour and is different on a sunny day from a cloudy day.
