Spice cabinets of this nature are typically part of the cabinet manufacturers catalog. Typically they are around 6" wide and are available for base cabinets (like you see in the above photo) and wall cabinets. They offer a great place for storage spices and are great if you have a little extra space in your cabinet layout or if you love to have columns in your kitchen design like you see in the above photo.

We have used them plenty of times in our kitchen designs and our customers love them. In this kitchen http://designinsidechicago.com/post/bungalow-kitchen-renovation-in-sauganash/ we had some ~7" of space in this tight kitchen. Instead of putting a large filler strip (like some hack kitchen designers will do), we put in a spice rack in the wall cabinets and the base cabinets and a small ~1" filler strip. In this tight space, it offered a lot of extra storage for spices.
