Kitchen light choice

After a bank of cabinets were removed, we installed pendant
lights.
My problem is now that the cabinets are gone, the light fixture that hung over the table is too close to the pendant lights and it doesn’t match.
I’d like to put a track lite in and highlight the wall.
But is that a huge mistake?

    Like your cabinet.

Don't try to match the light over the table to the pendant lights other than same color metal -- choose a different light design altogether. You could choose a something colorful, such as a stained glass fixture -- available in different shapes -- or even a modern ceiling fan .

What would a compliment fixture look like?

A complimentary light fixture would be one that echoes, in some way, the style, shape, material or finish of your pendants.

    Here a couple of examples:

    Could sconces be a possibility?
I do like the fixtures that you suggested.

Sconces are an option. Now that I look at your photos more closely, it looks like the pendants are not hung directly above the peninsula, but closer to the edge. Is that the case?

Actually they are hung directly o er the counter.

I see, now. Sconces can be good as accent lighting. But I do think you need some lighting above the dining table. What kind of overhead light do you have in your kitchen? And what is it you wish to highlight on that wall? Will you be mounting the horse and rider art?

Take a look at the below examples. Different color palettes and sizes, but the arrangements are very similar to yours with a peninsula and eating area beyond. Note the lighting.

Thank you so very much for your help and comments.
The rest of the kitchen has Can lights.
Because there is an overhanging front porch, the kitchen eating area really needs light.

If I found a chandelier, similar to the ones you suggested
that would provide lighting above the table.
There was a chandelier there when we bought the house, but
It was heavy and dark and seemed to actually block light.

Lexington Kentucky is all things horsey. Don’t know where I
am going to put the Horse in Motion Study somewhere
on that wall, along with some other Equestrian prints.

You're welcome, edisto9. I was inspired by your idea of hanging the Horse in Motion Study along with other equestrian pieces and made a mock-up for you. I have no idea if the pieces are to your tastes, but I wanted you to see a how a gallery wall could look with different/additional lighting.

I think the Forsythia chandelier, or something like it, would work well in your room. It's wispy shape takes up very little visual space and shouldn't impede your natural light from the window.

I would like to suggest that you center your cabinet on the wall. I realize you will have to relocate your wine rack, but I think centering that piece will be really good for the balance of the room.

My final suggestion is to replace the wood blinds with a single Roman shade mounted near the ceiling . Visually, it will be more streamlined. Below is the concept.

Wondering why do you think your pendants over the counter would be too close to the pendant over the table? I just don't see that as a problem from the photos provided. To make a better assessment of the room I think I need to see the kitchen with a photo taken from the perspective as viewed from the opposite side of the room looking toward the countertop and pendants. I see that the junction box over the table doesn't look centered, but you could remedy that with a swag light.

    Thank you.
Love the concepts and especially the chandelier.
I am going to search and see if I can find one similar that is
    a bit less expensive.

I’m wondering if I couldn’t do something like the Roman shade anchored near the ceiling but keep the wood blinds as well.

That's an option. It would look something like this. I kind of fancy it!

I must add, that I would fancy it more without the wood blinds. The blinds are dark and they offer a lot of visual activity with the horizontal slats and the vertical fabric strips. Since you have so many dark wooden elements in the room and adjoining kitcehn, I'd like to see some levity on the windows. However, I understand your reluctance to remove them at this time. For now, just focus on your lighting, art and centering the cabinet. Then you can explore window treatments.
