Garden hose splitter vs. water flow and volume

Hello,

I have a 4-way splitter that I want to water 4 different zones/areas. 2 options:

a) Placing the splitter at the faucet and 4 hoses to 4 areas

Faucet => 4-way splitter => 4 longer hoses (eg: 50ft 5/8)

b) Connect one hose to the faucet, then the splitter at the end of the 1st hose, then 4 shorter hoses

Faucet => Hose (25ft 5/8)=> 4-way splitter =. 4 shorter hoses (eg: 25ft 5/8)

Which option would be better (more volume, higher flow rate)? Thanks
