benjesbride pis seems like the only option unless your TV is small enough to fit the wall before the kitchen. Float your couch so that it is not too far away.

A sofa and two chairs will give you more arrangement options than a sectional. In a small room, your furniture should be a slim style without big rolled arms and bulky cushions. Look at "apartment-sized" furniture.

That makes sense. If I forget the sectional. Would you still suggest placing the TV on the wall benjesbride suggested?

If the living room is at least 15' across, you might be able to put the tv between the windows with the sofa facing it. As long as you have about 36" behind for a walkway.

Agree with felizlady that a sectional is a mistake.

They are big and bulky. No one wants to be wedged in the corners, they are not versatile and can rarely be rearranged or fit into other rooms or houses.

Regarding your tv, do you have a wall large enough for a television facing the windows?

if so, you can put your sofa on the window wall, and mount your TV on the wall facing the sofa, or put the TY on an entertainment unit.

Go to the hardware store to get the appropriate window film to cut down on heat and glare and UV light transmission through your windows, that will help in viewing the televison and reduce fading of your furniture and carpets.

You will of course want to get curtains anyway called "blackout." They do not need to be a dark color.

A style sofa that would work well is the tuxedo style-

Your black leather chair and it's foot rest could go perpendicular to the sofa on either side.

If you can afford to replace your current coffee table, you can get something in glass to show off your marvelous carpet.

Throw pillows in cream, red and black that go with your marvelous carpet would look great.

You can get a large live green floor plant like an areca palm, a kentia palm, or a monstera deliciosa.

If you don't have any sort of office, at the other end of the room, you could put up some bookshelves and a nice writing desk, one that doesn't look too utilitarian, but maybe one made out of wood, unless your style is mid-century modern, in which case go for something metal that is vintage looking.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I had purchased a sectional last week because I really liked how comfortable and durable it was (it's a pet friendly home with 2 dogs and cats )... They delivered it today... And I do still really like it... So I might table the TV dilemma for now. The listing described this room as the living room and the room that the kitchen overlooks as the family room. So it's likely that this room was not designed with a TV in mind The fireplace faces the kitchen which is kind of weird. Either way, I would still love some advice on coordinating the new furniture with the color scheme. I really like the rug, but can part with it if needed to put together a more cohesive look. I would like an art piece to cover that wall over the sectional.

Interesting that they have the TV set up nd fireplace on the other side.

I know you just moved in, but... that weird fireplace and half wall thing would be on my hit list. I'd rather have one, nice big open living/dining space.

There is a niche right next to the fireplace for a television, why not put the television right in that niche?

As for coordinating your new sectional, it goes very well with your beautiful rug because the rug has browns in it.

I think your new sectional did come with coordinating throw pillows of brown and white or brown and cream but I can't tell because you have turned them backwards.

I would suggest purchasing throw pillows of red and brown, red and cream or red and white, red and black, red, brown and black and cream or white altogether.

Do in the rest of the room what I suggested above.

I don't think the panels with which you are covering the windows add anything.

I suggest curtains, and use the same curtains in the living room as in the den so the entire area looks unified and not disjointed since they are next to each other.

The art work in the are over the sectional between the two windows should be something in the style of art that you like that has colors that pick up some brown of the sectional and some of the colors in the carpet.

The width of the piece including frame should not be more than 3/4 of the width of the wall space. Hang it so that the bottom is 8 inches above the sofa.

Awesome thanks. I posted it on my social media and one of my friends offered to make me a custom painting... I'm a veterinarian and she specializes in wildlife and animal paintings... She painted me a portrait of my poodles for Christmas and she offered to do a large “family portrait". I think I'll go this route for sentimental reasons. She also can do abstract, landscape etc. So I think I will ask her to coordinate the background colors with the rug and couch.

The TV space and fireplace face the kitchen, not the living room. If your sectional didn't block the area, you could open the back of the TV hole and have the TV face the living room, closing off the side that faces the kitchen.

The sectional is pretty but too big. You like it and that is what matters. You could put a TV near the front window and move the sectional closer to the front. Not ideal. Love the rug.
