MSU fertilizer conundrum

Does anyone know which MSU fertilizer is appropriate for Long Island tap water? A recent report states that the municipal water in my area has a pH of 7.5 - 7.7 and an Alkalinity of 6 - 125. The one I purchased says it is for reverse osmosis (RO), rain or tap water low in alkalinity (13-3-15 8Ca-2Mg) , but the other says it is for well water or hard tap water (19-4-23), and I don't know which is more appropriate for my tap water. Any advice would be greatly appreciated as the more research I do the more confused I have become!

Looks to me that you bought the wrong one. RO and rain water tend to be acidic. Your tap water looks neutral to low.

Call the place you purchased it. Or ask at the store.

I use rain and RO water.

With your readings, I think you could go with any orchid fertilizer.

I wish more knowledgeable people on this forum would pipe in.

I did contact the company and was told that I had purchased the right one. Still not convinced though...

Hi Luvmyorchids

You said the pH is 7.5 - 7.7 and alkalinity and acidity are pH and is in the range from 0 to 14, 7 is neutral so your pH is pretty good but are you sure that 6 - 125 is not PPM or conductivy MicroSiemens ? if that is the case your water is pretty good and you should use indeed "rainmix" MSU for rain or RO water.

The report says Total Dissolved Solids 26 - 329. It doesn't specify PPM or conductivity MicroSiemens.

I water almost exclusively with decent tap water and use the MSU (13-3-15) RO/Tap/Rainwater special formula from REPOTME. It has the micro-nutrients not contained in RO/Rain and a lot of tap water, but mine doesn't list the micro-nutrient %'s on the packaging. I've been using it for 4-5 years and have had pretty good luck. Very little leaf tip die back as long as used as directed (more is not necessarily better in this case ).
