Another top finished

I seem to be good at accumulating tops. Guess I should get busy and quilt a few. In the meantime, I'll share this one that was fun to make because who knows when it will be quilted.

It's a 6" block sampler made with 30s fabrics on white. I just loved her book and her instructions were just the best I've seen. Those instructions would be good for a beginner to start with. It's called Farm Girl Vintage by Lori Holt. Each block is shown in 6" or 12" size and you can pick and choose any you want.

I'll miss it now. Must find a new project.

That is just lovely Linda! I like the mix of traditional blocks with the chickens and sheep etc. Guess that is why it is a Farm girl quilt.

That is simply darling! I especially adore the milkcan, sheep, chicken, teakettle, strawberry, little bird, bowls...I love it all!

When I first got into quilting in the 80's sampler quilts were very popular. I never got around to making one but I would like to do something with some orphan blocks I have, only they are all different sizes.

Rita, you can add "frames" to the smaller blocks. Pick the largest you want to use then figure out how much to add to the smaller ones. You could add all the way around or only on two sides. If some are very small you could turn them on point and add triangles to bring them up to size.

I think 30's fabric gives a soft and comfy feeling to any quilt and this one especially, Linda. It's beautiful.

Rita, Check out Bonnie Hunter's Random Stars to get an idea of one way to put blocks together. Also, measure the largest block you want to use then see what it's divisible by.....and possibly make a 4-patch with 2 of your blocks with white. it will be fun to see what you come up with!

It's gorgeous! Personally, I prefer piecing together quilt tops more than the actual quilting.

So cute You are so patient and talented. That wold make a great sofa quilt or hung on the wall in a very big family room. I'd pay somebody to quilt it myself.
