That's a great idea. It seems so many patterns do the clippy corner triangles. I use the cut off parts as leader/enders to make HSTs.

I’d never have the patience for that. To the trash they go.

I don't know if I could hang on to my HSTs long enough to make an entire quilt, but I do love the idea. PS...Wedding Dress Blue is one of my favorite quilt blogs. Her tutorials/patterns are easy to follow. I made the Stutter Steps quilt this past year. Love how it turned out.

If your triangles will make a 2" (or larger) HST, please don't throw them away. If you aren't going to make a pet bed or something else with them just post when you're ready to 'clean house' to see if anyone wants them.

I did goof on this block but unless you care, it doesn't matter. I ended up with only 6 - 3 1/2" HST so had to use more of the 2 inchers. No problem. Now the aim is to try and make them with the 6 1/2" block in various places. It's a challenge but I need something to focus on right now.

Larri, Did you show a picture of your Stutter Steps? I've made a few of WDB patterns, too. Usually very easy to understand tutorials....or can just look at the quilt and figure it out......or make it your way! LOL

Bev2009, When I make a sample reminder block to put back, I also draw out the design, write where I got it from and keep it all together.

Here's my WDB version of Stutter Steps. I named it Jungle Stutter for the print I used on the back. When I make baby quilts, I like to use a busy print on the back, so Mamas can use them outside without worrying too much about grass/dirt stains. I guess I didn't take a photo after it was bound. I used a color that matches the background of the giraffe.

Larri, I used your backing fabric as the front if a baby quilt last year. I was asked by the grandmother, who loved that fabric and who said " oh, you can just quilt on the squares". But the litlle animal blocks were all offset so it wasn't just straight line quilting. Lot of zigzagging but in a matching thread, no one could tell some bits were double stitched. It was cute.

I've used that fabric, too! Fussy cut the animals to use as snowball centers.

I made my godson a Hunter's Star quilt for his HS graduation, and used all those cut off corners to make a sawtooth border. There's no end to uses for them!

Larri, I love your Jungle Stutter and your backing is perfect! It coordinates very well with the front. I don't think I've seen that fabric before but it's really cute.

I've starting making pet beds for the shelter with fabric scraps I no longer want. I even put in some tanks tops I wanted to trash, as well as small batting pieces (too small for swiffer sheets). They really appreciate them.

Thank you, Sharon! The backing fabric came from HobbyLobby aptly named: 'Jungle Babies'. (It's only $5.59/yd!) The charms were manufactured by Benartex: 'Forever Spring' by Nancy Halvorsen. I'd had them quite a while, so not sure that line is still available.

My Jungle Babies came from JAF.

So it is out there.

Larri, a sawtooth border is just a string of HSTs. I have a picture on my PC; I'll try to remember to post it next time I'm on the PC.

I couldn't bear to throw out the little triangles that I cut off to make the main blocks, so I made HSTs out of them and used them in the border. Tedious, but rewarding.

Lovely. You’re making me feel bad, though, because I threw away the bits cut off to make my pineapple blocks.

I'm not familiar with that pattern, but it looks hard. It is beautiful and I can't believe the tiny HST's.

I made so many mistakes while making the March Pinwheel blocks. I had a lot of nice fabrics tied up in the mis-cut and mis-sewn blocks. I wanted to salvage it.

I picked some blocks apart, recut others, and am making HST and QST blocks to add to my “bits and pieces” stash.

I have to hang my head in shame. Some women get entire tops together in a weekend. I accomplished four 4” QSTs! I had to frog stitch two of these to get the points to at least try to match up.

Caroline - those are nice hourglass blocks! Yes, there are some prolific quilters in our midst, but I am certainly not one of them. I just mosey along at my own (very slow) pace! It's all good. :-)

Caroline, I am a beginner, and sew/quilt just for my own enjoyment of learning new skills while creating something. Sometimes those somethings end up at the pet shelter, because they are too flawed for human gifting. ;) We sure are blessed by those with greater knowledge who share that with us here!
