lighting fixture advice

Hi Houzzers!
I was hoping for some input. I’d like to change the light fixture above my kitchen table (the yellow glass one). The crystal chandelier is new as well as the glass cylinder pendants. My question is, do you think a Sputnik type of chandelier would clash with the Maria Theresa style crystal chandelier even tho they’re in separate rooms?? Should I go with more of a crystal look? Thanks!
Lauren

    Hi Lauren,

I agree with the previous comment; the style in your home is very traditional.

Having the sputnik type of chandelier would clash in style with one in your living area. I would advise going for industrial style, a less decorative style, as you already have a centrepiece in your living area.

Here are some of my recommendations. Visit our website on Colville design to view our wide range of designer lightings.

Agree a drum would work well and not take from the larger crystal chandelier nor pendants. The current light is very high and small it appears. First measure your table both length and width so you get a proper sized light. Also, be aware of your ceiling height when doing your calculations.

You could consider a drum with minimal crystals... one posted for inspiration only.

Thanks everyone! What should the ratio be between table and light fixture? Makes sense there would be one! (Ps. We had to tie up the light for a party, good eye!)

I love variety in lighting fixtures throughout the house. People stress too much to harmonize IMO.

What is the length and width of the table and what is the ceiling height?

The table is fairly narrow in width...... 25" in diameter

Typically, should have a diameter of 1/2 to 2/3 the width of the table. A chain vs. a down rod makes it easier to hang as you can more easily adjust the height, but with a 8 foot ceiling just be cognizant of the down rods if you go that route as you want the chandelier to hang at the proper height.... not too high. Typically, down rods come in two 12" and 3 or so 6" so it's a bit more of a commitment when hanging as you don't have the luxury of taking it up or down a few inches to make it just right.

Possini Euro Farina 23" Wide Organza Silver Pendant Light

24" would be half you could do 25"... if the space is small or enclosed the one mocked up above is shown here. I prefer a chandelier just a tad large. Keep in mind the room too.
