Question about seedlings

Hi there

I bought some seeds online for Bilimbi. Planted them using bottom heat and they sprouted. Surprise!!!

They however do not look like anything in the averrhoa family. They are hairy.

I have attached some pictures. Can someone who have sprouted Bilimbi before tell me if these are the real deal??

Where did you buy them online? Was it on eBay or a reputable seed dealer? If it was on eBay, you have to be very careful, especially if it comes from somewhere overseas. They'll send you weed seeds. It used to be an eBay scam until eBay started having buyer protection.

That being said, when I grew Longan (cousin of carambola and related to bilimbi) from seed, the first few leaves that came out were single and sort of hairy. It took a few sets of leaves to get anything that resembled Longan tree leaves. Some plants are like that. They don't get their mature leaves for quite awhile.

Thx dirtygardener. I bought them on Ebay from the US. I am monitoring the plants.

Hopefully they miraculously turn into what I want. Then I won the lottery.
