I agree. Since it's only one stem, did you prune the vine to a few bud pairs so that it fills out more?

Last year was my first year getting any, so just making sure I identified them all! Lol forgot where I planted them, but they have all come up but one. I'll mark who they are and where they are when they all bloom. I do know who I ordered. I should have wrote it down when planting, like I do my roses. I think This one is in a bad spot though, so even though unread it's not good to move them, I may put this one back in a pot until fall.

If it's new from last year I don't think it'll mind being moved . I had to move one that got majorly shadowed from a rose who way outgrew it's space and it seems happy and only took one scoop of the shovel to move . I hope it likes its new home :)

Yes just planted last fall but I think I should have chose a better spot for the one.

I have never lost a clematis after moving it, which I did any time except winter. Be sure to dig deep and wide to get as much root stystem as possible and plant in a prepared hole. Then water and shade as needed. Sometimes there is no set back but often bloom is lessened or delayed for a year while new roots grow. I grew over a hundred clematis and when i wanted to move one I did so. IME they weren’t difficult to transplant. Hot southern states may vary in result but with attentive aftercare they likely will be fine.
