Looks to be a large example. Plantings of this selection in my area are disease susceptible and therefore quite unlovely most of the time.

As far as timing, are these early or late or mid season compared to other ornamental cherries?

Full name is Prunus x incam 'Okame'. P. x incam is P. campanulata x P. incisa, with the strong flower coloring coming from the first parent. Another example from the same cross is 'Shosar'. Both named selections were raised by Collingwood Ingram in the U.K., where they continue to be described as top notch. Yet in the generally similar climate here in western Washington State 'Okame' is a disease magnet, resulting in leafless specimens evoking throughout winter spider webs with remains of dead bugs stuck in them.

In the mid-Atlantic this is the first cherry to bloom. Higan & Yoshino are only just now starting. This year the peak blooming period at the Tidal Basin has been pushed back because of the prolonged cold.

'Okame' looks rusty from a distance because of the red calyces in combination with the pink petals. 'Dream Catcher' hasn't seemed to go anywhere commercially.

Fruit of 'Dream Catcher' below. These selections on this thread do not heavily produce fruit. I wonder if that might change in the future. Could they become a weed problem in the future?

03-06-23 'Okame' blooming in Maryland. Much earlier than previous years. The winter was extremely mild in our area. Very little cold and no snow.
