curtain rod selection

We’re looking to update the drapes and curtain rods in this room. There is a 29” gap between windows. So my questions are:
- Do I need to buy two separate rods or one long rod? How long should the rod be (the window is 34” wide)?
- Do I need two panels per window? I was wondering if I can buy one drape and keep it on the outer ends of the rod?

I am aware that I need a longer and higher rod so no need to post that image that is in every curtain post. Thanks for the help!

Looks like a bedroom? Will you be using the outlet between the windows? If not I would use 1 rod across both windows with 4 panels. If using the outlet I would do inset roman shades

Extending the rod three to six inches beyond the frame left and right of each window is more aesthetically pleasing. In your case you might be able to do 4" on each side at best. I would personally do two separate rods.

I think I might consider blinds which sit inside the window frame; then one does not have to be concerned about curtain rods.

I would do 1 long curtain rod, with 4 panels. I think 1 panel per window is too sparse.

2 rods, each extended a bit more (wider) than currently. put plastic plugs in the outlet (the child safety ones) and paint the plate and plugs wall color and it will disappear a lot.

(i put those plugs into all my low outlets before my 18 month old grandson visited, and was astonished at how much they made the outlets disappear. i've only removed a couple of them that i use all the time for the vacuum.)

Use a single long rod extending a little further beyond the window edge. Cover the inter-window space with full (2-21/2 times fullness), and use the same fullness for a single drape opening to the left and a single drape opening to the right.

Yes it will be a bedroom. I probably won’t be using the outlet, not sure what I can plug in up there. The blinds don’t really interrupt the curtains and I like that it’s outside the frame so it blocks more light.

Romans are a great option as well. A single rod will need a center support and to me might look a bit pedestrian for lack of a better word. Something in a color or pattern that works with your bedding selection.

sorry about the gray, I just grabbed a Roman so you could get a visual. This is relaxed Roman, you could do traditional Roman instead if you like.
