PEX vs copper plumbing

We are remodeling our bathrooms and need to repipe the house (old galvanized now). Will be moving some plumbing, replacing a hot water heater, and also thinking about having water softener installed. We don't have an unlimited budget. I would prefer the somewhat cheaper PEX if it is good enough. We can replace the pipes in 20 yrs if we need to. Any thoughts?

I only use soldered copper pipe.

PEX has an average lifespan of 40-50 years. There's no reason not to go with PEX.

PEX, done properly with a manifold and home run system, won’t be hugely cheaper than copper. But it will be 10x better in service and flexibility. Copper in slabs around here has about a 15 year lifespan because of the pinhole leaks.

We had our galvanized steel replaced with PEX about 8-10 years ago and love it. We haven’t had any issues with it. The water tastes tons better!!

Sounds in supply lines are non issues.
