IMO, no on color though I have no idea if they overlap at all. Gibraltar tends towards a more tomato red, and the redbud is a purpley pink. The PJM rhodies are a fairly good color match and bloom around the same time or a true pink or white would be fine, but not a red with orange tones.

Thank you. I was hoping for a match like the following tulips, but I now the smallest variation in colors could change the combination from "complimentary" to "clashing." I hadn't thought about the overlap. Redbuds are early, so I bet they wouldn't overlap. Thank you!

I would term the color of 'Gibraltar' as a screaming orange!! How well you feel that would combine with the hot pink of the redbud flowers is up to you. Here, Gibraltar blooms in late April/early May, well past the bloom season of the redbuds

Deanna, I don't have problems with you combo above . . . Quite nice.

Redbud are similar in color to the purple tulips above, but a tiny bit brighter and pinker. They are a purply pinky violet fairly early. Also, there are cultivars now with the maroon red leaves of Japanese maple, if you are interested.

thanks, NHBabs. I love the color combo, too. But I think the shades are perfect. A lighter pink and a different orange could clash. There's something about this soft orange with the magenta that leans clearly towards purple that is perfect.

So, no later Gibraltars with early Redbuds. Thanks for confirming bloom times, GG. I'll check out the varieties of redbuds, ed.

I do love screaming orange, so I want to plant Gibraltar. I think I might have to ponder the right placement of it this summer and save the purchase for next year.
