I think the black would be nice. Have you considered framing the mirror, maybe even tile because that would look a lot better and you could use that same time for the shower if you liked.

Nice towel display options and black floating shelves above the toilet would look nice in your space.

I like your idea of the black cabinet and brushed nickle. I would go with the simpler mirror frame in Mon's suggestion above. With the size of your bathroom, I think small busy tile might be too busy for it. Simple and classic would be lovely.

The shelves in the above pic are a good suggestion, too. If you want some Johanna Gaines style, you could use wood shelves in tones that go with your floor. A couple of galvanized tin or metal accessories would work with that, too. Have fun!

Wow, looks of good suggestions. OP, on my monitor the knobs on the vanity look gold. I'm guessing you plan to replace those too to make the metal finish on the faucet. There are lots of cute ones out there. I've looked at Rejuvenation Hardware but there are lots of places. BTW, what will the new shower look like?

This is actually the new shower already...we just replaced our old gold frame one with a brushed nickel one...we did't want to spend a lot of money on tile this since was kind of an unexpected re-do. That and purchasing the nickel faucets are basically the only things that we have done so far, so suggestions on lighting and the ones above are great! We want to replace the sconce and the main light. Also trying to decide on paint color for the walls! I do like the idea of a mirror frame and the wooden shelves too!
