It looks really nice. It's not the world's greatest picture, though. We see a lot of sun-lit grass and the house is shaded.

I would not do those awnings and a nice wrought iron and glass one over the door and if you need light control for the window a solar shade inside . I find it a bit hard to tell old from new as far as the paint is concerned. A clean up of the landscping would be a good idea too

The pics looks the same, not sure which is before and which is after. I like your house, the brick is beautiful, and you have a nice sunroom there.

I'm not sure about the awnings -- I don't think they look bad, but the house would probably look better without them. Or at least better with a solid color.

I hope the gutters are real copper and are going to patina, as I don't love the copper color if they are faux-copper gutters and will remain that color.

I’m perfectly comfortable receiving frank design feedback—that’s why I posted here. But there’s a difference between constructive criticism and speaking to someone in a condescending, unnecessarily rude manner. Your comment about Facebook and telling me to “prepare myself” was rude and had nothing to do with my house. I’m happy to hear differing opinions; I just expect basic courtesy.

@chispa ….Your comment reminded me. we had copper ( real copper ) trimmed gates, custom copper mailbox, etc., at our previous home. All were turning that beautiful verdigris (sp? ) when we sold the house. Returned to the home last year, new owners painted over all the copper with a hideous cocoa color. It IS their house now, oh well.

Also, we left a few large Corten steel trough planters that had oxidized beautifully, guess what!?

@K Laurence, some people have no experience with copper! They probably thought it was "damaged" and painted over it! Sometimes it is better to substitute nicer/better quality items with more common things, just before listing a house for sale!

@chispa, yes, but we had no plans to sell at the time ….in hindsight though, lol . Yes, they told the neighbors that everything was starting to rot.

First, I think your house is charming. Very “fairytale cottage” vibe. Second, the dark green is a good choice. It works well with the brick. Lastly, not loving the awnings. My assumption is the sun really heats up the inside rooms in the front. But if something can be done inside (drapes with good lining?) maybe they can be removed.
Does the front door have good lighting for nighttime? It is an adorable alcove but looks dark in this photo.

For landscaping, I would consider colorful flowers along the walkway, low bushes with shiny leaves for foundation bushes.

@K Laurence, I have a house with a near-wrap-around porch with a copper roof that is verdigris green. I posted on Houzz asking for advice on painting it (it was battleship gray at the time). The first poster hated my "green" roof and suggested that the house didn't need painting (it absolutely did need painting) but needed a new roof in a better color. Every subsequent poster, even if they did mention paint color, prefaced their comment with a need for a "better" roof, so recommended colors that didn't go with my roof.

I love my roof, which didn't need to be replaced, was copper and slate, so no way was I going to replace that with a "better" color of asphalt shingles, and even if I wanted to, it wasn't in the budget.

I like your house, and I like the awnings too. It looks very nice. I do agree, that the landscaping could use a bit of clean up.
