I do, and no to the cold air if you remember to close the flue...which I don’t

We can’t close the flue because it is a fireplace with a gas log set - the flue is fixed open and we cannot close it. So you’re saying that the cold air isn’t a problem? Do you live in a cold climate? Thanks very much!

This is new to me, but in reviewing their literature, i am not sure this can be installed in a retrofit situation. It says something line “for new construction or remodel-only “. Are you completely remodeling? Check the drawings out. Might not work for you. It doesn’t say how you would clean the glass either. I would ask a lot of questions.

We are completely remodeling. The fireplace is stripped down to just the exterior of the actual chimney right now - it looks like a mixture of cement and cinderblock and brick. I would think that you would just clean the glass by cleaning the front when it is closed, and then cleaning one side while the other side is open? I guess you’d just need to make sure that you can reach in far enough to clean it. The reason we are doing this is because then we don’t have to have a large surround around the opening of the fireplace and leave room for the doors to open before the legs of the fireplace (stone mantel, so not combustible). Saves a lot of space in the design.
