Tow behind spreaders

I have a push type spreader that I have had for many years, and since there are many years on me, I am looking for a tow behind spreader.

Of the ones I have looked at their gear boxes seem to be cheap plastic gear and based on the spreader I have got, clog so you have to sort of bounce the spreader across the yard to keep the material flowing. Since it is a low-use item I would prefer not to spend a fortune on it.

Are there any reliably tow behind, non clogging spreaders on the market?

Agree with ssewalk1! The qualifier may be how big is your yard? I've had one for a long time, however it's 200lb. capacity and is built heavy duty. If you have a quarter acre yard..... You might want to look at which one has the best warranty in the "plastic gearbox" flavor. If you can buy 3-4 of the less expensive for one well made could be the way to go. The world being what it is, to get metal gears, etc. may have to buy something larger than you need or want to store.

This may be an alternative, I have one I used when I lived in town and it will handle 20-30 lbs. of fertilize and has a very wide dispersal. Feed your yard and get some cardio at the same time! Adjustable from the finest seeds to Fertilize.

Check out the Agri- Fab Product line they have quality unit for under $200.00 . Brinly has cheaper model , however you get what you pay for Bud !

I researched this last year, I'm too old now to do the cardio thing so I opted for a tow behind. After all the research I got the Brinly. Got the 125 pound one, the 175 is the exact same for all parts except the bin is bigger. The manual shows both models and all parts. They say the gears are heavy duty nylon something. I love it and it has worked well. Can't say on longevity, only used 3 times so far. I also made an adjustable handle for it - really helps.

Update - now after 10 or more uses it is still working perfect, haven't even needed air in the tires. Spread pelletized lime, grass seed and fertilizer.
