Silica - Thats good to hear that they really do work. There seem to be several different versions of the rootmaker pots. Which ones do you recommend?

Was is the difference between the root maker and a fabric grow bag? I'm not sure I'd want to use the larger grow bags due to stability, but I was considering it for the 1-3 gallon plants.

Root Maker hard sided containers come in 1-gallon, 3-galln and 5-gallon. They also make 100 foot long rolls which you can make any size container you wish. Using the roll I have made a 30-gallon and a 50-gallon container for larger trees..

Silica - When I saw this post, I was checking it out since I know they are mentioned quite a bit on the forum. For the roll (to make custom sized pots), what have you used for a bottom (although I expect if the tree is pretty much kept "permanently" in a greenhouse or outdoors, then a bottom wouldn't really be needed)?

Jenney-se-pa for large containers made from the RootMaker rolls they can be used either with the Root Trapper base or with no base at all. I have one with the Root Trapper base and one without any base, in which the tree's root just grow into the ground.

Thanks Silica! I see they have a variety of the larger sizes of RootTrapper so that would work.

Silica - do you use the pointy side pots only? Have you ever used there other styles with the graduating levels?

I have 3 small citrus that I have in the 5 gallon graduated level pots. I'll be growing tomatoes in the rootmaker pointed side pots 5 gallon size this season.

Love this thread. I was wondering if anyone knew of a site that sells the ones we are talking about for a good price? I'd like to try a couple myself.

Also, what ones are we discussing? I think there are different versions right? If I knew what ones to buy I could check out my local hydroponics store.

these were the best deals I could find and I haven't looked for 1-3 gallon sizes.

I’ve been googling around for a few weeks, researching supplies. There’s several smaller gardening outfits on the internet with really good price on the graduated level pots, a few dollars a pot for the smaller sizes. The pointy ones seem to be a lot more. I’m guessing all these places will charge shipping though.

They rootmakers are cheap on the retail section of their website, but shipping is SO EXPENSIVE. I used their store finder on the website and found a garden center that stocks them 30 min from me. Got them from the store WAY cheaper than their website or Amazon.
