Absolutely, traditionally pianos have some framed family photos on them. Look how great with a plant, or yes lamps a nice rug for the space would really showcase it as well. Have fun!

Art on the wall, a lamp and maybe a few small, framed photographs. I'd be hesitant with a plant, fearing water damage. This is ours....

We have a similar set up to yours and have a large-ish painting and a piano lamp. Looking at it in the pic it looks a little bare. I like the green of the plants in the pics above, but agree water and pianos don't mix. You've got room on one side for a tall plant. Maybe try that with some artwork on the wall, but I wouldn't do too much on top of the actual piano.

A picture on the wall above - yes. But, on the actual piano then It depends... Do you plan to actually play the piano? If so, you definitely need a piano lamp to make reading music less of a strain. Anything else though I would vote against if you are a serious player. Many decorative items on top of a piano can vibrate with serious use - and in our home that drives my very advanced pianist daughter crazy. The only thing on our piano top is the lamp and what ever sheet music books she wants easy access to as she plays. For me - I never played seriously so it doesn't bother me, but the clutter and dusting around mulitiple frames is more annoying. When I look at some of the sample pictures posted by Mon I cringe and automatically think the piano is not used in those homes, but instead a decorative item.

My piano is weird and can barely support a piano lamp (it has to be carefully placed so it won't slip off). The lid becomes flush the top when closed and while you could serve food off of it, you can't have stuff on it if you want to play. We have a watercolor over it, hung a bit high so it's above the lamp.

Steph, your piano is lonely and would love some art. :)
