Hey folks - I had never thought about it when planting, but should the depth of the mulch be considered when planting bulbs? ie if the bulb needs to be say, 8 inches deep, should you consider the depth of the mulch in that planting, or still keep it 8 inches deep in dirt, even though it may be 4 inches deeper in mulch - leaving you with a bulb that is actually 12 inches below the actual surface? Same thing with something that should be say 3 times deeper than the bulb --- three times deeper from the "air" or three times deeper from the "dirt".

I've always done it based on the dirt -- but, that doesn't make it right lol.
