The counter and backsplash beautifully match the gray in the rug. Yes, gray and wood can go together, and this is a beautiful example. I like the simple backsplash because it doesn't call attention to itself.

The backsplash is 1" x 2" slate in a running bond pattern. The manufacturer was Akdo, but they may not make it anymore. I hope this helps!
