Possibly a deer tick?

I'm in HK so unless there is an Asian variant of the deer tick, I don't think that's it. I wish it were so I could be done with it and figure out how to deal with it.

I wonder if it’s a baby roach? I did a quick search of them in HK, and saw several pics that looked like the size of your bug. And they’re hard to squish. One site said German Cockroaches are the most common there, but I don’t know if it’s that.

I've seen baby roaches in other parts of Asia, they don't usually come out during the day and they are normally much larger and easier to spot.

The little ones I've pictured above don't seem afraid of light. I've only ever seen them on my phone screen and on my hands. I don't know where else they have been lurking but I've vacuumed my living room area this afternoon just in case.

I don't know if this helps narrow it down but we only ever notice them on our phone and laptop screens. I haven't seen any around the house. Not on tables or the living room chairs or sofas. This is starting to creep me out a bit.

Did you recently, about the time you noticed them, get a package from China or somewhere else. I knew a lady that ordered a lot of things, clothes to electronics & I saw spiders & a couple of roaches come out of the heavy cardboard boxes. Might have to sprinkle some roach powder(boric acid powder) around & see if bugs end up dead. That powder is very safe. Years ago people in US would mix boric acid powder with warm water to wash their eyes out & also it can be used in washing clothes.

Nope. We did have some visitors stay with us from the UK for a couple of days who took a connecting flight somewhere and jumped on two different planes. I did think for a bight it might have been related to their visit but it seems quite a stretch.

I'll look into that boric acid you suggested. We don't have issues with roaches or pretty much any pests in our building. There are the odd worms and bugs that I take in with my plants that I buy but nothing like this that we haven't been able to identify and kill off in a couple of months now.

It has been 3 years since this post, but I'm here to tell you for sure, this is a tropical rat mite. You more than likely have wild rodents within your walls and when the mites living in their nests no longer have food to eat, for example after a rodent dies or when an externinator comes, the mites go to look for new sources of food. Being attracted by warmth (they can see body warmth), they will go long distances to feed. Fortunately, they are species specific, meaning they CAN feed on you, but the chemical composition of human blood or any other animal species for that matter will not sustain them and they will die. 3 years have past so I dare imagine you found a solution. I had that problem 2 years ago and it drove me nuts. We had a rat infestation in the neighborhood and lots of rats lived in our backyard. We were unfortunately the only ones controling the population as our neighbors didn't do anything. So they kept coming back and multiplying. We ended up getting rid of the mites by using diatomaceous earth in generous quantities sprinkled all around wall baseboards and by stuffing it underneath the moldings. But I've been seeing a few these last couple days, hence me finding this link here. I hope you got the solution to your problem! By the way, if you ever need diatomaceous earth, I highly suggest you don't buy it on Amazon or in pet stores where they do sell it at ridiculously high prices. Try to go to a farming equipment store if possible. They sell it in bulk as it's used as a feed additive for animals. It's sold as an anti-caking powder as it dehydrates food and prevents it from sticking together. Much MUCH cheaper. PLUS it will be animal food grade. Don't use it for human consumption though. But perfect for bug problems. :)

I think i also have this problem, ive noticed that if i look at closely at any kind of black object in my room im bound to find a small white/beige mite i think crawling around. Ive noticed them on my clothes/bags, piano pretty much everything i guess but i dont know what they are or where they come from. It creeps me out and i dont know how to get rid of them. Im not sure what they are. Does anyone know?

Hey ..I have seen them on my phone in past two days.. freaking me out so much. Getting house cleaned. I read on other forums that it's dust mite. They crawl actually run super fast and exactly how u said hard to squish ...crawl right under from finger. Please I hope you found solution and help us too. Thankyou

I aslo seen those kind of bugs on my phone screen some 6 of them for about 1 year ((i live in Balkan east europe))

They are tiny red dot like this ( . ) and moves around , what i seen in interner they are form of mites like chiggers or other type of it , i dont think they can harm us beside some itching and hot shower can remove them from our body

A visible red mite may be the adult form of a chigger.

They do not bite humans.

The chigger that actually bites humans (in the US anyway) and causes itchy red bumps is the larval form, and cannot be seen with the naked eye.

same but the bug is grey and tand ididnt see a red one and veeerryy tiny i cant feel the the just apper in my phone suddenly , i hate it and it feels itichy all over my body , ihave noticed maybe the cause of it a bird neesting in my window bacuse last year that happind and once i got rid of the nest they fainshed and now they come back as the onther bird nested and i felt sorry for the baby egg and didnt remove them ,but i dont think it a birdmites bacuse i looked at the pics of them and they dont look the same im so lost and i need the sloution to ger rid of them if anyone can help me to do so i will be gratfull

Sorry. I'm really late to the party. ( I have them too BUT also poor eyesight so I think they're black ish.

I was leaning towards dust mite but now I'm second guessing. I only see them at my neighbors and I know they'll struggling with mice right now so the rodent explanation makes sense too.

Either way I am typing from a phone that's been doused in 99% isopropyl alcohol so we'll soon see.

If they stop I'll dye on the dust mite hill. If not I may have to find a new place for morning coffee
