How close to the window should my Fiddle Leaf Fig Tree be?

Hi - I just bought a Fiddle Leaf Fig tree and am unsure exactly where to put it. It is in a room that has North-facing windows, and I'm unsure as to whether I should put it next to the window or across the room from the window. I'm nervous putting it right next to the window because I live in Chicago and it will be closer to the cold and the drafts...

Please help! I've attached pictures of it in both places.

Chelsea, the best place to get help is in the house plant section of the forum This section is for edible figs. They are very helpful over there. Good luck.

My fig faces east and it is growing by leaps and bounds with watering once a week. I love mine and now have a second coming along. Happy growing.

The best place to put your plant is in front of a large floor-to-ceiling window with an overhang outside to protect it from the hottest direct sun. Fiddle Leaf Figs love sunlight. The post below has a great explanation for you.
