I looked up pot filler because I've never seen one. They were all mounted over the stovetop. The article had several comments and this one sums up my opinion. "I've always found these baffling. As has been mentioned, you still have
to haul the boiling pot to the sink off the stove. But for me, the
biggest drawback is that I really cook a lot, and the backsplash by the
cooktop gets really grimy and oily. The last thing I need is a
hard-to-reach faucet with tons of nooks and crannies back there that I

If a niche is useful then it is worth having. If it is just decorative you need to have something in particular in mind for each space. It is a personal choice, and if you want them you should have them. House design is not the latest fashion; it's about where you live. Do what makes you happy.

I have seen countless dilemmas on this forun where people are trying to figure out what to do with niches that were very popular in 90’s built homes. The advice is almost always to drywall over them so, unless you have a specific use or plan for them, I wouldn’t do it.

Skip the decorative niches. Pot filler is personal choice.

No on niches. Pot filler expensive trendy item, not worth it IMO. Takes extra plumbing, the fixtures are expensive, and the number of times you use them is slim. Plus, they sort of mess up the backsplash look that you spend $$$ on!
