Joybird Eliot vs Article Sven

Going back and forth between these two sofas! Any one with advice? They're currently the same price due to sale at Joybird. We have a baby and a cat so will need to stand up to some light wear and tear. Interested in the Sven but don't love the sag that the cushions seem to develop.

- Is the Joybird comfortable? Do the pillows maintain their shape?

- Do both develop a nice patina?

- Can anyone speak to cleanability/durability?

Thanks!

I assume you are getting leather . If so you get the toughest leather like cowhide not calf skin , Cats claws ruin soft leather very quickly from taking off . KIds and leather are great as for the 2 sofas I am not familiar with either brand but you need to sit in them before buying. I would never suggest buying a sofa without sitting in it.

Move up the food chain. You won’t get what you won’t pay for.

Since you have a baby you should look into the health effects of the stuffing used in sofas / furniture.

Sophie Wheeler - any suggestions? My husband and I are struggling with where to buy “adult” furniture. Life after IKEA is confusing.

Lauren - I am trying to decide between those exact two sectionals! What did you ending up going with? If you did choose one or the other, how is it holding up?

We ended up going with Article, primarily because it was a much faster turn around time. The couch looks great but is not as comfortable as we hoped. The back cushions don't have enough stuffing for our liking - we're constantly having to fluff them up and basically need another pillow behind us for support. Because of this, the couch always looks messy after sitting on it. I've read that some people purchase additional stuffing which helps but we haven't gotten around to this yet. I still haven't sat on a Joybird. My husband regrets not springing for Room and Board but I think given what we paid and our plan for this couch to get us through the toddler years, it's fine.

I’ve read that people put an extra pillow in the back cushions. I’m assuming there is a zip pocket to add this? How are the bottom cushions holding up? Good quality? Scratch easily? Are they really slouchy looking? im not particularly a fan of the super slouchy look but I want leather for our dog hair maintenance problem and also for the fact is looks good with anything. I’m hoping this couch will last us a while, so I’m hoping I can have a solution for the slouchy back that will make it what I want. From what I’ve read it seems Article is built better. Joybird wasn‘t descriptive enough for me and no one seems to own the Eliot sectional in leather. So I’m thinking of going with Article as well. Thanks for your response! It helps a lot.

I'm curious about the slouch issue too. @jsinclair7712 I'm going leather for the same reason. So. much. pet. hair.

We've had our Article Sven for less than two years and I cannot recommend it. The color has faded severely and inconsistently from indirect sunlight only, and the back cushions are constantly flattening and are un-fluffable.

I can't speak for other brands, as this is the only sofa we've bought online. Sorry to say that it wasn't worth it.
