My citrus trees require very little care and are wonderful tasting! Are you sure you don't want to keep them? There is a chapter of the California Rare Fruit Growers in your area and I'm sure someone there would be interested. You should consider joining the great, it's the absolute best if you like to grow fruit.

Agoodlot! That was a huge kind hearted thing for you to do. In fact, Nick seems like a great person since I have seen him here so you can be assured it's in good hands.

Funny you should mention the Fish Emulsion because what you see is for real, at least in my case too. I have yet to battle mites and scale and other pests that ail many of my fellow citrus partners here from just that alone, used consistently all summer which takes dedication. If it were not for this routine, I would fight them all the time like a use too in years past. There use to be a time when many friends and members here had the same results and I believe many have left for many reasons but one because many had pest issues and no longer do, so no longer come here. I miss them all.

Please, feel free to share your experience with Fish Emulsion since the turnover group of a minute few have become very , let's just put this in a nice way, doubtful of its benefits))

Mike, have you had any issues spraying your trees with fish emulsion in the summer sun? Laura mention her leaves were burned due to HO residue. I wondering if the oil in the fish emulsion could cause the same problem.

Hi Alanna. Never. I find HO oil far too strong for the sun. I use HO late at night and the nose end one at that.

Laura would of gotten sun burn anyways with the sun alone because one must slowly acclimate their trees to the sun now with partial early and late afternoon sun or under a tree or shade cloth. The burn was exacerbated by the oil residue. Happens to mine all the time if I don't acclimate my trees to the outdoors. Starting the beginning of March the sun would burn my trees. As soon as you can get a tan, sunburn at the beach , or the UV index raises above 5 you must be cautious. HO should not burn your leaves if applied at the right time of day or night with most plants especially citrus once they are use to the sun . It's pretty much a great product even I use it at times. So you could use either but I find FE much more effective or 'prevention' and easier on all of my plants.

Alanna, the FE would likely not burn the leaves. I think mine just had a thick residue of HO/neem and, compounded with the bright sun, burned some leaves. Agoodlot, I’m glad you found good homes for your trees. I know how you feel. I intend to re-home a few myself, and want to make sure they will be well cared for.

Thank you Laura and Mike. I had a constant mild battle with spider mites and scale this winter. I consistently sprayed HO, rubbed with q-tips dipped in alcohol, and hosed them down, so they were never bad, but I'd much prefer to spray over the summer to prevent fighting and spraying all winter.

Laura - I'm sure there are no shortage of people here who would love and care for your trees. We are all a little citrus crazy. Today at my local nursery, I had an hour long conversation with an employee all about different plants. It was the most fun I've had in a long time!
