Swap site

This is just a wild idea. Throwing it out there in case there happens to be anyone else who thinks it is a good idea, and who also happens to be both a plant lover and a computer geek. LOL

Have any of you ever used one of those book trading sites such as paperbackswap.com? The basic idea is that you don’t find someone who wants a book you have and you want one of theirs in return. Instead, Someone wants your book, you mail it out to them, and then you get a credit. And then you can use that credit on any book from any other participants. Works a lot better than finding an exact match!

So many times, I have been on one of these plant swap forums, and sometimes it is just so hard to find a plant wanted/had in common! Mr. Gardener From Somewhere has the rare Rose cutting you desire, but he has no interest in your oak leaf hydrangea. Meanwhile So-and-so Overthere is dying for a piece of your hydrangea, but has nothing to offer you in return that piques your interest. If there was a way to make a similar site as the book swaps, wherein you mailed out plants or seeds and got credits in return, it might be a whole lot easier and more productive swapping with other gardeners! True, it would cut down on some of the person-to-person interaction, but at least from my perspective, there would be a whole lot more trading and sharing going on! Some people are willing to SASE, but sometimes that’s just not an option. This would fill in the blanks for those times where you have nothing in common.

Anyway… Just something that came to mind a couple days ago, that I’ve been thinking about. Am I crazy, or does this sound like a good idea anyone else? LOL
