What is causing this amaryllis flower to be distorted?

I was given bulbs years ago from a friend, and only two bloomed this year. They were NOIDs, so I didn't know what to expect. They were planted on opposite ends of a long bed. One bloomed single red, then this one bloomed triple. Both had distorted flowers. They are in a bed where other amaryllis bloom perfectly well, and the ground is relatively fertile (lots of earthworms and organic matter). Could this be some virus? I find it strange that they both turned out like this. If it's just nutrient deficiency, I will dig it up and put it into a pot and baby it awhile.
