Maple tree not growing

Hello! I planted a 12 foot maple tree about a year and a half ago. It leafed out last week and I noticed that only one branch shows any growth at all (about six inches). It didn’t grow last year but I figured it was because it was newly planted.


Does anyone know what time of the year maple trees put on new growth? Should I fertilize it? I live in Oklahoma and the soil is red clay.
