Thank you. Since I am looking for traditional/oriental carpets, I am unlikely to find 3 that are the same? How do you think they should relate to each other?

I prefer just one large rug, dust bunnies under the bed be damned, and for the coziest look would prefer the total coverage of the first picture, but you could also do the second picture, perhaps extending the carpet a little closer to the sitting area. For me, when it comes to rugs it's go big or go home, but it also depends on the dimensions of the room. Perhaps a 10 x 14' rug would be a good size for this room. Measuring carefully is something I'm sure you don't need to be reminded of. I hope you'll post again when you've found a wonderful rug.

so this is what I ended up picking, now to figure out art, bedding, etc.

With that carpet, you have quite a few colors to choose from for bedding, pillows, other furniture and art. It would be a good idea to have some good-sized paintings in this room so that the rug isn't the only large feature. Frankly, the bed looks rather plain on this rug, and I would probably choose a new bed with a tufted, fabric covered headboard, and avoid having any wood showing on the bed. You'll need a fairly elegant bedding set also, nothing country or informal. Matelasse or something with a velvety surface would be lovely. Some pretty lamps, perhaps with a ceramic base in one of the colors of the carpet, could help to coordinate the decor in this room.

yeah, I don't think this bed looks good with this carpet at all, which makes me wonder if I should look for something a little more casual. I don't really care for formal decor, lean more casual, but everyone has always told me that these types of rugs can go in any decor, so it confuses me.
