I saw 5 gallon Gold Nugget Mandarin trees at Home Depot from durlings with these splits in the top branches/trunk. It looks like it started to swell in the second photo and was beginning to split. When cut into, you could see a small oozy decay in that spot. I had taken one home but took it back after seeing this and other damage on the tree. Any idea what this is a symptom of?

I saw 2 trees like this and I went to another Home Depot that also had Durlings Gold Nugget Mandarin trees that looked poorly. I don’t remember seeing the splits at the second Home Depot but I had not yet identified the issue on mine at the time. Wondering if this is crop wide at Durlings.
