Walls Anew Gray and tray ceiling Agreeable Gray

We are getting ready to paint our new home. Our master bedroom will be Anew Gray, our master bathroom Agreeable Gray, and our trim in both White Dove. We will have a tray ceiling in the bedroom, with crown molding. I am considering having the ceiling inside the tray painted Agreeable Gray, for a bit of contrast, and to tie it into the color in the bathroom. The tray area around the wall will all be painted in the White Dove., including the crown molding. The room is not large..14.5' x 13.5'. Has anyone used these two colors together in a similar situation, and how did it look? Suggestions?

Sounds like it will be pretty. I've not used those colors, but have used White Dove on all my crown, baseboards and molding inside my trey ceilings and it's really pretty. I like having a contrasting color on the ceiling from the wall. Sounds like what you have will be nice. It's always difficult to really know until you put it up there. Colors will change with lights on, time of day, etc....

Congrats on your new home!

We think the combination will work well! These colors are warm gray (brown undertone) so the space will be also cozy but not necessarily small.

I did go ahead and have the inside of the tray ceiling painted Agreeable Gray. The wall color is Anew Gray. I have found that there is just not enough contrast, and I wish I had had the inside of the tray ceiling painted Anew Gray instead. I will try to post a picture at some point in the future.

Paula, can you do a darker color in your trey? It's not as much of an area to paint. Are you doing crown inside the rim of the trey?
