Do you know what variety you planted last year?

The seeds in many (most?) varieties will be sterile. But if you grew a Serena® variety, the seeds can be saved. I doubt very, very much that they will reseed for you outside, in your climate. They don't for me in my North Alabama location; I buy new plants every year.

I will never be without these fabulous plants in my warm season gardens.

I collect the seed from the store bought plants and start them the next year under lights. They germinate fine but never look like or compare to the parent (hybrid). It's fun to have the different kinds. I don't remember the variety names. I probably have the tags somewhere.

That was my first time to grow them, though I'd read good things about them on GW for years. I had a white one and a purple one. I think the purple was called "Wedgewood Blue", but I have no clue what the white one was called. Certainly don't know the species name.

Well, I think I will shop for some small potted ones to buy this year. If they do well, I might have to add these to my grow-from-seed (purchased) list.

Susan, you don't need to hunt for tags for the seeds you collect. If you are going around collecting seeds and those seeds germinated, the plants are Serena®. That's the only angelonia, to date, that can be grown from seed.
