Reviews for Bertazzoni Refrigerator?

last modified: 8 years ago

I am considering the Bertazzoni 36” free standing French door refrigerator, but I don’t see a lot of reviews. I know it is made by Midea, not a lot of reviews on that either. Does anyone have feedback? GE Cafe (thick door, poor feedback from trusted appliance repairman) and Bosch (strangely placed filter) are the others under consideration. Thank you!

Did you ever get information about the Bertazzoni fridge? What did you end up buying?

Hi Kristin, What refrigerator did you buy? I am considering similar options. Any advice?

My Bertazoni regridgerator has only made 2 batches of ice in 4 months. The service from Bertazoni is ridiculous. I have only been able to speak with one person and he was incredibly rude. Never again.

A salesman is really trying to push a Bertazzoni refrigerator but there are NO reviews to be found! I need information. My main concern is that it be QUIET because I live in a NYC apartment which is basically two rooms. So I work, eat, sleep and entertain right beside the refrigerator! Unbelievable that a NYC salesman would have no info on which refrigerator is the most quiet.

I think I would pass on it. We seriously considered that brand because we were definitely getting the range. And they had a package deal. We chose a JennAir counter depth and love it. Can't say I have heard it run, but we aren't next to it all that much.

So why pass on the Bertazzoni refrigerator ?

No reviews, for one. We thought the interior configuration did not really maximize the space. And found other brands that we liked better--configuration wise.

i would not recommend buying a BertazzonI refrigerator. My elderly parents bought one about a year and a half ago for an updated kitchen and last August the ice maker started filling the tray with mini cubes and water which freezes into a block that has to be removed and melted every few days. The place she bought it said they were not able to service it as it had to be done by a Bertazzoni repair person. The problem was there was no Bertazzoni repair person in our region at that time. After many months of my 86 year old mother lugging bags of ice home every week, a person finally contacted her and found a leaky line. They had to order the part and wanted to send it to her to install! Seriously? Then my mother tried to work with the store where she bought it but was told Bertazzoni would only speak directly with the customer. It’s now 7 months and the Warranty is going to run out soon. Is that how they work? I’ve never heard of such horrible customer service. Get a GE and save yourself a headache.

I bought a Bertazzoni refrigerator and would never ever purchase another. It produces very little ice. Bertazzoni has replaced the icemaker twice, the water valve, and the circuit board. It still makes about enough ice to fill two glasses in a 24-hour period. Additionally, the handles on the refrigerator doors and freezer drawers are so loose and wobbly that they feel like they're going to come completely off. The repair tech says it's a common problem with Bertazzoni and that the design is very poor. After replacing the handles once, and then several service calls to try to tighten them they are now worse than ever. The Bertazzoni repair techs keep cancelling and rescheduling appointments at the last minute. I also purchased a 36' Bertazzoni range and a Bertazzoni dishwasher at the same time as the refrigerator. Those two appliances are great, but the refrigerator is pure junk.

We bought a new home and it came with a Bertazoni refrigerator and a Bertazoni range. Nothing but a headache. The refrigerator door started sagging and the alarm is incessantly buzzing, we can't shut it off. Service man said that the door needed replaced, it was out of warranty by a few months and would cost at least $1000.00 and would take 3 months for the parts.

The range has been serviced three times, the last time the glass fell off of the oven door. Again out of warranty by a few months, very difficult to get service. PC Richards wouldn't service either appliance.

GO GE OR SAMSUNG or ANY OTHER COMPANY. THESE UNITS AREN'T WORTH THE MONEY. AND NO ONE WANTS TO HELP or SUPPORT THE PRODUCT.

All of your comments have been helpful and reassuring because I did NOT buy the Bertazzoni. I ended up keeping the Whirlpool which I had purchased in a panic during the pandemic, right before Christmas while all my food was thawing. It seemed really loud at first but it has settled down. I also figured out how to disengage the ice maker which the guy at the store said was not engaged. That eliminated a really loud buzz that would go off every 45 minutes. Don't believe what they tell you.

I have the Bertazzoni refrigerator. It takes almost 24 hours for the ice to refill which is awfully slow. i just had the fan replaced a week ago because we noticed our food spoiling after being in the refrigerator several days. This was probably going on for much longer before i realized the problem. Our berries and cheese, specifically would get mold after a few days. Be aware the temperature reading is showing 35-36 degrees but its not the actual temperature. After being fixed last week , my food is not cold as it should be. I would avoid this refrigerator.

I have the fridge with the same ice issue, the dishwasher doesn't empty completely leaving a stinky water if used, and the oven door has to be left open for several minutes or the heat elements go out. These are not the expensive appliances performances I paid for.

Don't buy Bertazonni. They sent uneducated repairmen to fix it at 3 months. Replaced several items, then called me to show some guy with my phone the insides. We determined the icemaker on button was off all the time. It still takes a day to make ice. Stove isn't great either. Beautiful, just not

I agree with all of the above. I cannot recomment any of the Bertazzoni products. 2 1/2 year ago I did a complete remodel of my entire kitchen usimg all Bertazzoni products. My gas stove top had to be serviced because it wouldn't light. My microwave wouldn't heat and the door wouldn't stay closed. My oven heating had to be adjusted because it wasn't accurate. If your recipe calls for 400 degress for 30 minutes, your food will burn after 20. My dishwasher has had to be repaired over 8 times since it was installed. My refrigerator door handles were loose and fell off. Now my ice maker doesn't work and there is a loud humming noise. We vaccumed the back hoping that would help and it hasn't. I've emailed Bertazzoni US so many time that they have ignored my last 2 emails. I've left messages that have yet to be returned.

With what it cost, I would think their customer service would be superior. It's hit and miss.

Don't buy bertazzoni products . They may been a superior product in the past but no longer. To have my appliances break constantly durig the last 2 1/2 years is shameful. I didn't pay premium prices for sub par items and unhelpful customer service.

My Bertazzoni refrigerator is currently waiting for the repairman to come since it stopped working two days ago. The warranty just ran out 5 months ago. (So the fridge is less than 2.5 years old). So if you get one, do extend the warranty! We liked the configuration and the look. The inside pieces have lots of cracks. When the ice tray cracked (under warranty) they had to send a whole new ice maker component from Italy, which was good because the ice machine did need replacing later one. CONS--parts aren't readily available, local repair people aren't familiar with the brand so wouldn't touch it or know exactly what is wrong. PROS-aesthetics, configuration, size. To people that say it doesn't make a ton of ice (and the ice cubes are small)--Italians aren't big on ice like in the US!

I purchased a Bertazzonni dishwasher, range and refridgerator 14 months ago. Although a bit complicated, I love the dishwasher and the range. However the fridge is a whole other story. Constantly dealing with loose handles. 2 even fell off on one side and damged the face of the fridge. Apparant;ly the "white glove" installers sent by Appliance Connection did not use Locktight glue. Then, the vertical flap on the left door completely broke off the door, so now that side is inoperable. It has a "heating wire" for some reason. Super frustrated as I am now out of warranty and the cost to fix is 900.00. My first "higher end" fridge in my 56 years and it is the by far the worst one I have ever owned.

Heating elements in or around refrigerator/freezer doors are to prevent condensation.

I installed a Bertazzoni fridge. model REF24BMFX. The interior light never worked. Now 4 months later after three service visits it still has never worked. The company keeps sending its service guy either the wrong part or the right part but which fails.

We purchased the 36 inch free standing French door fridge. The ice maker is a joke. There are teeny tiny ice cubes and I still can not determine how to make the ice cubes dump in to the tray automatically. I manually have to removed the ice cubes from the "automatic" ice maker. I have watched the promotional video for the product and there is no reference to an ice maker in the video - that is wise marketing since the ice maker is of such poor quality.

And we purchased a 36 inch range with apparently a thermostat on the oven that is defective. Repairman has been here twice and now we are promised that a replacement rang will be delivered.

These applicances look nice but seem to be of poor quality. Avoid.

i bought a house with Bertazzoni kitchen appliances. I do not recommend them. Ice maker broke, refrigerator door handle fell off. Hard to clean inside. Takes up a lot of space but isn't very roomy. Operation is counter intuitive.

@HU-631209176: "There are teeny tiny ice cubes and I still can not determine how to make the ice cubes dump in to the tray automatically."

So the ice maker knob is in the locked position but the ice cubes don't fall out of the "ice cube box" and into the "ice storage box" below the ice maker? Reading here pages 8-9.

We purchased Bertazzoni appliances when we redid our kitchen in 2017. They are unquestionably beautiful in design. We've been happy with the gas stove and microwave/hood. Less so with the refrigerator. Quite a few of the plastic parts have cracked, we had to replace the ice maker mechanism (the icemaker does work well though, in terms of ice production), and the worst problem: there is a leak somewhere that drops water to the bottom of the fridge, thus freezing into a thin block of ice. I need to go in there and remove the ice about every 10 days now. Am debating if we should just give up and get a new refrigerator, but it is a shame as it matches the rest of the appliances. And, as I said, it is a beautiful Italian design! I've gotten no help from Bertazzoni; just had to find a local appliance repairman. He fixed that dripping water problem about 18 months ago, but it has now returned...

    Do not buy a Bertazzoni!

mine stopped working after 11 months

my food got spoiled and today the technician told us we need a new computer board, which must be ordered and may take days!! because it may have to be shipped from Italy!!

    Really!

the technician was also rude !

    terrible experience

I would highly recommend ANY other appliance brand than Bertazzoni. I was SO excited for this brand when I built my house in 2021. From the day they were delivered there was nothing but problems. My dishwasher was replaced 5 times, my oven will not stay lit and now, after 4 years, my fridge completely crapped out the week of Thanksgiving! Bertazzoni is no help at all. The company they use for repairs has no appointments for a few weeks. Nothing in under warranty either. The fridge cost me over 3000 and is now just a useless box.

I would NEVER consider ANYTHING from this brand again.

Four years ago I moved into a home with a brand new Bertazzoni range and fridge. I know better than to count on an appliance package for reliability. Bertazzoni is a range company. I didn't anticipate that the fridge would work well, so although it was new, I donated it and installed a Subzero. I kept the Bertazzoni range. About the range:

    1. Hot air blows continually from this beast when the oven is on turning my kitchen into the tropics. Perhaps this is the way it is designed to cool the inside of the oven or circulate hot air? I looked this up online and it seems this normal. It makes me not want to use my oven as much and we have used our Breville smart oven more frequently instead.

    2. The gage is off and I have to keep an oven thermometer inside to get the right temp. It is a PITA.
