you can cut it with crafting sheers. once the row you want cut is weakend you can break it by hand

if you look closely at my box you can see i stacked multiple pieces to make little terraces

hey Punkgirl, can you post how your grow box turns out? Ive got a 30 gallon fish tank kicking around somewhere, also what grow lights are you using?

Staci, Ooooh... what you could do with a 30 gal! My tank is only a 10gal so I wanted to find bulbs without a lot of heat... and it will be in an area that still receives east light. I'm going to use a dual bulb hood rated for up to 150 watts (I don't think I'll use the heating matt unless the temps reads low). I'm going to use the screen reptile lid I had and hopefully with the grate and some water, and occasional misting the humidity will be enough for two-three small hoyas. I'll have to up size the tank if they do well, or maybe even if they don't? HA! I have one sad looking caudata that only has two leaves and lives in a very dormant state, I also managed to get a good deal on a small imbricata from Florida, and I have this Sumatra headed my way via EMS from Thailand! Soooo excited! I may keep the last in a south window in my bathroom. All of my humidity loving Hoyas (sarawak, Chicken Farm, callistophylla, etc) live there and they do well. I'll post pics of the tank when I get it set up. :)

50 watt grow bulbs

The Hoya caudata Sumatra I ordered:

i use heating pads below my box to heat water in the bottom, with a LED light that doesnt generate much heat. so far i havent had anyone burn -fingers crossed-

I am definitely NOT using the lights I bought. They get way too hot! [face in palms] I’m looking for a waterproof led alternative, now... I’ll just use the heating pad until I can find something. Humidity is at about 85% with just a spray from the water bottle and my soaked cork mounts. I’ll take pics when I get imbricata and caudata situated. :)

Here it is. My puny caudata will move in soon. And maybe an led light strip can help me keep the heat up. Humidity is good, I’ll have to most frequently unless I get a fully enclosed hood.

Definitely like the set up, really have to see if i can find my old tank. To start mine i laid a towel over the top to let the humidity build, One it was established i took it off. now i only need the towel if i take the lid off.

I bought an led aquarium light, it doesn’t warm it up as much as I’d like, and I’m still looking at my options... but the humidity is good. And I added caudata Sumatra today!
