WiFi extender or add'l access point

I have a WAP300N access point at my house. The signal is great inside the house, but I'd like to have better signal on my porch and in my basement. I'd be appreciative of some advice as far as whether I should get a WiFI Extender or an additional Access Point.

If you can hardwire it, an access point would give you better reliability and performance. I’m not a huge fan of range extenders because they get their signal from your existing brodcasted wireless so it will likely be degraded. That said, they can be handy when you cant run a physicsl cable to its location.
