gray paint/brown carpet

We just moved into a new house that has brown carpet and gray walls. I feel like with all the dark colors it just makes the room smaller. I was thinking Benjamin Moore’s edgecombe gray but it has gray tones too depending on the lighting. Any paint color suggestions? Thank you so much for the help. I’m terrible at picking paint!

If I never again see a gray wall with a brown leather sofa or brown carpet, I'll be a very happy woman. And I have a gray kitchen I quite like - no aversion to the color, just don't want it in my living spaces and/or mixed with brown.

Are you mainly thinking of the living room? What is your furniture like? Please add pics of any rooms that are furnished that you would like to change the paint color on.

I would suggest going with a light greige (gray/beige) that complements the carpet.

Beige or white/off-white is a safe bet with the carpet. Or you could use an actual color. Green looks nice with brown.

Are you planning to paint the whole house one color or are you doing it room-by-room? Seeing your furnishings would help as well.

One grey for another? but why.... door and trim are white. You could have white in art, etc.....I have been curious too, how to bring both together. Maybe the neutrals, in textures?

I am also having this problem in my home. I was thinking doing a navy blue accent wall and white on all the other walls to make sure it doesn't feel too "closed in".
