Blank walls in kitchenette

What do you think of this window pane mirror in our basement kitchenette? Should it be above the sink or on the other wall? Should it be horizontal or vertical? Or does it not look right at all?
Would the below picture be better? Our sink wall is 70" L and the other wall is 60"L. I need shelving for dishes (just a set of four), glassware, cookbooks, plants and a small clock. Should I have one shelf that goes across the length of both walls or two shorter ones? And what kind of brackets would look best? Any other suggestions? As you can see I'm clueless. THANK YOU!
