I think they may need a little more time this first spring in your garden than already established ones would. I am in zone 5a, mine just started developing leaves in one bed where the snow melted first, but there is still not a sign of them in another bed, less exposed to the sun.

Out of curiosity, what color(s) are yours? I fell in love with the all blue when I first saw it in a garden catalog a few years ago, but the garden center where I ended up buying them had only a blend - I think pink, blue and white.

Mine are bluish mauve. I started with one I believe, years ago. Now I have one bed full of them and in another bed they are strong enough to compete with The Lily of the Valley! I am sure yours will do equally well as soon as they will start feeling there at home.

Any signs yet? I've had trouble with these in the past, they say to soak the bulbs overnight and that helps but even then they're these pebble like hard tubers which don't give you a lot of faith. I have one plant which finally seems happy... in the meantime I've planted many which have not done as well.

Yes, it's my opinion that completely dried tubers don't usually live. Unfortunately the mass market treats them that way. Specialty vendors treat them well though and success is much greater with stock from bulbophile vendors.

Winter aconite is another of these tubers that don't tolerate dry storage well.

It's easy to get discouraged if you buy them from mass market vendors and they don't grow.

Nothing for me, and it’s been very warm here in Boston over the last week. I planted about 12 tubers in December after soaking them, and not a peep out of anything any of them. :-((
