Do you not own any art? Go to a couple of art shows, even if it’s at the local high schools. Buy things that speak to you. Not overpriced dreck from China made to part you from your money.

I think your tv is too high over your console, it needs to be lowered. Everything on your console is about the same height. You need to add some decorative pieces of different heights and colors. I would add a tall silk tree like fiddle leaf fig, Japanese maple or ficus to one corner probably the corner behind the lamp. Above the chair you could add artwork (maybe 3 stacked) in colors that compliment your rug (hard to see colors), or bring in bold, accent colors. Art work should start a bit higher than top of lowered TV and end below tv.

Balance. You need some curtains, a tall plant or two, some framed prints. And we need to right wall too. No more brown! And honestly you really need to lower the tv, or balance the distance between the console and tv.

Yep - try 3 framed prints on each side of the TV - after it's lowered.

Lower the tv first: the bottom of the tv should be about 4-6" above the console cabinet. That will allow you to keep three items on the cabinet top. (Move the rest elsewhere)
Go to any art/craft fairs in your area, or to a few art dealers to look at art, art prints and photo art. HomeGoods has some framed art. Michaels has art, and they can frame a couple of pieces for you if you find unframed pieces you like.
Try to minimize a cluttered look by having only a few small items on any surface. Add drapes, a couple of pillows, a soft throw, or something else in a nice fabric to add texture. You also need to have things at various heights to add dimension to your rooms. A floor lamp, a table lamp or two, art on the walls, small decorative items (a vase, framed photos, a carved wood piece, for example), something in a color: these things can give your room personality.

I would remove all of the little crap on top of the console. I would lower the TV and hang art on either side.

Ok I finally managed to take pics. This is in the afternoon.

Kitchen is to the left here and yard to the right.
We moved in recently and window covering have been really kind of temporary,, furniture a mix of what we had and a few additions. Open to suggestions. We do have a dog, rug has been good masking dog accidents and sturdy enough to handle a dyson every day, but I’m ready to let it go:)

The family picture by the chair needs to be moved, as you should add curtains to soften up a bit.

also what is hanging on the wall to the right of the sofa?

we need to put something on the right side, just not sure what you might have, Also, if you have any artwork or pictures you might like to use?

The width of the door is 100 inches just window, 2 50 inches drapes cover it ‘just’.

love the pillows you added!!! the whiteboard has to go lol. the curtains you have now are a bit short, so we need to measure length to just sweep the ground.

I’ll also look for dif draperies, it was annoying that those were short but maybe I’m better off since they are not doing much for the room.
I did go ‘shopping’ for pilllows in my living room., I like them too.
I’ll ‘play’ with that floor lamp and table lamp.
