I like the color in the first photo. Is that post zebra? I'd leave it like that.

No that color was before the zebra. It is not bad. But we didnt want the entire house to have the same color. I actually went to the paint store and matched the background color on the zebra wallpaper. I found umber by sherwin williams. I decided I like the color, but need the zebras off :/

I love Scalamandre paper, it really is a shame. Maybe you could salvage it for resale?

I agree. The zebras are great. But almost everyone who walked into our house made a negative comment about how gaudy it looked.

Gosh those Zebras are cool. Maybe you can save one part of the pattern and frame it as a picture in the room after you have repainted, as a nod to the past. Wouldn't that room look fantastic with an antique campaign desk?

The detail in the floor is sure lovely. I think the room could handle being dark,, it has a nice large window and the doors are glass to let more light from the house in, plus all the creamy lovely large molding is light. Be sure to get a rug that allows you to see the detail on the floor.
