Hi there design gurus! Please give me your advise!

We purchased this home last year so here we are ready to make changes! This home was custom built in the late 60's and now needs updating and the cedar shake is old and needs to be replaced. So here's the thing...I am wanting to do something to make this look more current but I love the style so will not make any changes to the mansard style roof. There is A LOT of red cedar fencing and trim on the property and in the neighbourhood and I am quite over it! I love lighter colours and am considering replacing the siding with a lighter colour and painting the brick to make it look brighter and more like a "lake house" feel. As I am painting the inside I am drawn to blues, greens and greys...we love the water and are boaters...so you get my drift.

What do you think about this as inspiration?

I've not ever made significant changes to the exterior of a home before and I will definitely be looking for local professionals to help but I really am hoping to get some advise here! Thanks in advance!
