I would go with a batch of bad bulbs. I've planted ones which looked good, and actually some which looked great, but then come springtime....

If I remember I'll take a picture of two patches I planted last fall, one with bulbs I dug and saved and another with some new ones which looked great, but really haven't impressed me yet. They're both planted at the same time, a few feet apart.

I just went and cut off all the blooms - which in itself, did not have a decent timeframe as well, they pethered out pretty quick. In reality, about 40% came up. Another 20 or so that had leaves bloom up to 10 inches high, with no stem/bloom.

Debating whether to let the leaves yellow out and just add ~more same specices bulbs~ in spring . Or just skip to the next GO sign, and dig and toss the bulbs. If they did not perform great in year 1, see no reason why they will perform any better in year 2

If they're not bothering you I'd just leave them... but if you have something better to put there then go for it!

Indeed I do. I actually transplanted all my annuals into Solo cups where my bulbs beds are - where the plan was to wait till the leaves go out. Thinking I was planting the annuals in late May-June. well, since they are yellowing now, I might not even have to wait the 5-6 weeks....

My annuals are all planted except for the bulb beds. Those waiting to be planted in bulb beds are now in solo cups - getting a bigger rootsystem, etc
