Eventually they'll make offsets but I'm surprised you're seeing more than one flower from a single planted bulb. In my experience usually the onions only send up one flower per bulb. Maybe they were just especially large and healthy bulbs? I'm with you on liking the single huge flower heads floating over the bed. Maybe you can just nip out the little ones and then dig them after blooming.

There was a small offset that came with my order. It was about 1/6 the size of the bulb itself. Went ahead and planted it in a specific spot. Still waiting ....but no signs of that offset pushing through the mulch yet....

I went around trimming almost 1/3 of the bulbs I planted - 1/3 of them had secondary shoots. Go figure. I planted them a smigen close - about 5 inches or so expecting/hoping no bulblets anytime soon. LOL, I got a 33% surprise already.

For those in the know, when I dig these up come fall, am I guaranteed to see a bulblet on these extra blooms/shoots I observed . I'd prefer to separate the original big bulbs from these new discovered babies when I dig/seperate/replant.
