I think I lost chrysanthemums. I’m still waiting to see if other things are slow to emerge (their first Spring in the garden) or if they’re dead. I thought some things like Coreopsis are slow to emerge.

I lost a Japanese maple, 1 hydrangea and 3 rose bushes.

I actually think I lost my Anise hyssop, too! But, I am sure I saw new growth in early to mid April. Now it's all gone. I don't know if April really was THAT bad, or if there is another reason.

Hoping my coreopsis survived. Still waiting...

I forgot all about my mums but I think I lost several. The ones near the foundation do well but otherwise....

I’m pretty sure I’ve lost two of my roses that we’re struggling last year. The others died back more than the previous two years, so I expect the to be smaller.

But the major loss is one of my climbing roses. The other is doing fine, so I really don’t understand what happened.

Well, my mums don't seem to be all dead. I have migrating mums? This is my first winter for hardy mums (the standby Hillside Sheffield Pink) and there is no new growth around the old stalk, but on 3 out of the 5 there are significant mum sports within a 2 foot radius. Not a solid radius but some kind of center of sprouts somewhere within a 2 foot radius of each plant. At that rate they'll travel the whole bed in just a few years. Migrating mums. Should I build a wall? (Just kidding.)

Yup! I have a coppery one I love, but I haven't been able to find a spot where I can keep it under control.

Can I complain about tulips? Last year I had 5 purple tulips and 5 Angelique tulips in the garden along the house. This year I had 1 Angelique. I've even planted Darwin tulips before and they're supposed to get stronger and multiply and have had no luck.

I drive by other houses with gorgeous tulips and am sooo jealous.

I put tulips in, and turns out they are vermin appetizers... my trumpet vine has no leaves...wondering if it is a casualty of the winter? Still discovering damaged trees (husband noticed "new" dogwood....sadly its "old" dogwood but as the main stem has broken 90 degrees, the flowering top of the tree is in a completely different location this year)....

I had the same experience as H B in years past, with tulips as well as crocuses... all eaten. Daffodils are the only thing that doesn't become a snack.

It is best to view tulips as one shot deals. They just don't last.

I have some All That Jazz tulips from Brecks that have done well for the last three years. I sprayed the bulbs with deer /rabbit repellant and sprinkled red pepper when planting. It's just six, do not a big draw, and there's a wall of daffodils on one side.
