Can't find how to edit/ delete a post on here :) The subject should be 'Carex and Liriope', not 'Carex and Sedge'... Any help with this?

Can you post photos? Otherwise, liriope produces flowers and berries - sedge does not. And sedges have edges :-) Feel the blades, running your fingers carefully from the tip to the base. Sedges (Carex species) will have rough edges that will grab at your fingers...liriope edges are smooth.

Thanks gardengal -- I checked it out (Did vaguely remember that 'sedges have edges' once you reminded me) and I see that most of my patches are, indeed, 'Ice Dance' sedge. [Apparently they love my place -- multiplying exponentially!]

That IS an issue with Ice Dance.......it spreads quite aggressively. I find that rather interesting, as other cultivars of the same species - Carex morrowii - stay in a very tidy clump!!

Some surprise. My Carex Evergold stayed in a perfect clump for 20 years before I even realized I should divide it! I ought to have been suspicious when my 3 little Ice Dance babies filled in half a border in 2 seasons. (The only reason the Ice Dancers can't completely take over is because the prolific hellebores think THEY already own the border :) Since I have plenty, I pulled out several Ice Dancers to border a small rain garden I'm making. The area is nearly day-long sun, which might at least curb its aggressive proclivities... what do you think? [And thanks for the phrase which I won't forget :]
