your fence system to protect from deer

years ago when i first got young fruit trees, i used a thin gauge rolled wire 5 foot high fence and circled the tree.

then when the trees got bigger, replaced this, with 4 metal poles around the tree, and ran 7 foot deer netting around the poles.

the netting got dry and broke in the sun after a while, and the poles moved over time and the netting got loose. not to mention it is difficult to get inside to prune, etc. it's been a pain to manage it.

i have dwarf and small semi-dwarf trees. what method have you used to keep deer from eating leaves and fruit, and what do you think is ideal?
